Changes to the Auctioneers Act 2013 (March 2025)

Over the last 12 months, Regulatory Systems (Economic Development) Amendment Bill (No.3) has progressed through Parliament. These changes are now in force.

The changes to the Auctioneers Act 2013 are minor.

Key changes to be aware of include: 

  • a company is disqualified from registration if the company is not registered under the Companies Act 1993
  • anyone applying for registration may provide a rural address as an address for service
  • the Registrar of Auctioneers may inspect auctioneer records 

The Bill had its third reading in Parliament on 25 March 2025 and received Royal Assent on 29 March 2025. The proposed amendments came into force 30 March 2025.
